The List Overuse Myth
- Opt In Leads Information | June 3, 2010, 1:30 pm

I suppose I can understand why some people are concerned about this, but if you really consider it closely you will see that it is a non issue.

How To Work and Manage Opt In Leads
- Opt In Leads Information | June 3, 2010, 1:23 pm

The 7.6 Million leads are to be used by you, or your customers who buy or rent the lists, to build a different list. The goal is to build a customer list – people who have acted on your initial ad and have shown an interest or purchased from you. This is your ‘mother lode!’ It is not uncommon to get a 40% response rate from these ‘customer’ lists. So instead of getting 2 visitors to your web site for every 100 emails you send, you can get 40!

Opt In Leads As Assets
- Opt In Leads Information | June 3, 2010, 1:22 pm

During the course of this auction, and the one previous, I received a lot of questions about this ‘Leads’ business. So in an attempt to provide you with a more concise package of information I am writing this document. Hopefully, it will answer most of your questions, and maybe dispel any concerns you might have.

Stop Giving Your Words Away
- Freelancing | May 1, 2010, 5:51 pm

For the past few weeks I have been spending a lot of time looking at websites such as rentacoder.com and freelancer.com. It had been a few years since I visited these sites, having been a member, soliciting for work during slow periods. Years ago I knew that this was a technical `meat market`, watching providers with obvious technical skills offering their services for pennies on the dollar.

How to buy the right website
- Buying and Selling | June 3, 2010, 1:13 pm

On any given day, you can find 100 to 200 new websites for sale.  The website types run the gamut from old and established sites, to brand new niche sites, and everything in between.  With a little due diligence, you can help ensure that your money will be well spent, and you will receive a nice return on your investment.

Selling the Picks and Shovels
- Buying and Selling | May 3, 2010, 2:25 pm

During the California Gold Rush, not everyone who risked their health and life, uprooted their families and had big dreams found enough gold to change their lives financially. However, the ones who made out, the ones who consistently made the most money, are the ones who sold the picks and shovels to the miners.

On The Road Less Traveled
Triumph And Loss In A Life Lived Less Ordinary
   Manuscripts : May 3, 2010, 2:50 pm

I felt guilty lying there in bed next to her. I also felt sick my stomach filling with air. When she touched me I tried to fantasize that it was Maryann, Ginger, Farrah, even Joan Jett. That didn't work so 'nothing' worked. I told her it was because of the long drive road weariness and it had nothing to do with her.

It had nothing to do with the fact that she was fat. I'm fat. But she smelled of gear lube with a hint of sour milk. I smelled like hotel soap. It didn't help that her night gown was snagging on the scabs on her legs, how it sometimes sounded like cards being shuffled when she moved on the bed next to me. And then her leg sliding over mine, like a Christmas tree being drug across my stiff, bare legs and limp . . .

Steelers Ground Game Rated C+
Many questions remain in the backfield
   Running Game : May 18, 2010, 1:22 pm

While the Steelers continue to practice from now until June 10th, and all the focus seems to be on when Ben Roethlisberger will be allowed to return to the team, I want to discuss the Steeler running game. The performance of the run game this coming season will likely dictate how far the Steelers go, if they do go to the playoffs.

Terrell Owens To the Steelers
Poor Performance Last Year In Buffalo Can Be Excused Trent Edwards and Ryan Fitzpattrick
   Rumor Mill : May 12, 2010, 8:51 pm

Although past his prime, Owens is a good fit on the field for the Steelers. And in retrospect, Owens may have an attitude, but he keeps it on the field. The Rooney family won't have to worry about managing him like most people would think. Rumors also place him in Oakland, so that is likely the death knell to him wearing a Steeler Jersey and lining up in the slot position. I can't see the Steelers being interested in anyone that is a fit in Oakland.

Sweed Hopes Disappoint Again
Second wind short lived, but there is always 2011
   Wide Receivers : May 12, 2010, 8:29 pm

Limas Sweed, one of the more recent disappointments to come from the Steeler's drafts, cleared waivers and was placed on IR after surgery for a ruptured Achilles tendon. Coming into the Steelers 3 day minicamp with a positive attitude after last season's poor performance, it seemed like a great story about to develop.

Eat Your Spaghetti Eat-Your-Spaghetti
- Raising Children | January 29, 2010, 3:27 pm

Me: Bayley, you need to start eating your spaghetti.
Bayley age 5: I`m not hungry.
Me: Do you want some cake?
Bayley: Yes!
Me: So you are hungry, now eat.
Bayley: Can I have some cake?
Me: When you are done eating your spaghetti.

(3 minutes later)
Me: Bayley, you promised me you would start trying new foods. You can`t just eat chicken nuggets and fries all the time. So you better eat.

(1 minute later)

Me: Bayley, come on. Just take a bite. If you don`t like it you can spit it out.
Bayley: I don`t like it.
Me: You never tried it. You used to love spaghetti when you were little. And I even let you pick out the spaghetti at the store.

(1 minute later)

Me: Look, Bayley, Tristen is eating his dinner. Just try it . . . Okay, I didn`t want to tell you this. (whispered) If you don`t eat at least a little bite I am going to have to take you to the hospital. They are going to have to give you three shots. You will get one in the middle of your eye, one in the ear and one in your belly. Do you really want to do that?

(pause)

Me: Where do you think you are going?
Bayley: I am going to get my shoes.

I Buried My Wife I-Buried-My-Wife
- New Poems | January 29, 2010, 3:23 pm

I buried my wife in the sky
so the Great Blue Herons can comb
and wash her every morning, pull
the blanket to her chin
at night.

I buried my wife in the middle
of a worried day not remembered
by my words or a last sound rising,
beside the quiet secret of a rose
closed with rain.

I buried my wife in my heart,
my sleepless one, my darling
now closer to our children
farther still from anything
bright.

I Open My Heart I-Open-My-Heart
- Notes To Read While Falling | May 3, 2010, 3:18 pm

I open my heart

(because I didn`t know what you feared
I feared everything thought `a cold swift river
emptying into nothing` too afraid to lose
you as you were and I as I am

because it felt like endlessness
when I looked at you last, I thought `bury
these notes in a box in the earth and turn away`
remember you as you were, I as I am

because now I know, and like the past
we are not ending we ended, so forget
I said forever, then begged for a moment
but oh how it was! you as you were with me as I am

because I don`t know what to feel
this far from your life through the window
I watch that tree the wind keeps batting around
so worn out and still I am far from anything)

and let you go.
